The Magic of Scent

Have you ever noticed how a smell can change your mood almost instantly? Well we did some digging into the why and here’s what we found!

It turns out your sense of smell plugs straight into the part of your brain that handles emotion and memory. So it completely skips the usual “thinking” filters, which is why the right scent can make you feel calmer before you’ve even had time to process it.
But here’s the part we got most excited about...
Your brain learns from scent.
If you light the same candle when you’re winding down in the evening, your brain starts to associate that smell with switching off. Over time, it can work like a shortcut to calm.
So no, it’s not magic. But we think it's still pretty awesome!

If you’re feeling a bit overstimulated this week, try this: Pick a scent, use it consistently for a few evenings, and let your brain do the rest. |
Lots of Love, Terian x |
